A dental implant is an artificial tooth root, placed in the jawbone during a minor operation. They are made from titanium or titanium alloy, which allows the implant to fuse to the bone in a process known as "osseointegration". Following the appropriate healing period, the process is completed by attaching a crown or a bridge to the new implant.
Alternatively, two or more implants can be placed to secure loose and uncomfortable dentures, giving denture wearers the confidence to eat, smile and speak in public.
At Stirling Dental Care we work in partnership with a highly trained and experienced implant specialist Bruce Strickland BDS DipIMpDent RCS(Eng).
Dr Strickland has been working in implant dentistry for the last 15 years, he successfully places around 400 implants per year. He attributes the 99% success rate of his clinical work to ensuring the highest standards of treatment protocols are carried out both surgically and at the treatment planning stage.
Jane Lang has been trained and mentored in the restoration of dental implants by Bruce Strickland. Once your implant has been placed the "tooth" part of your implant can be carried out at Stirling Dental Care.
